Vending Machine Sells Live Crabs

Not only did China take over Japan as the second largest economy, it also looks like it has one-upped Japan in the vending machine wars. This Chinese made vending machine serves live crabs! One Shanghai Hairy Crab costs between the equivalent of US $1.50 to $7.50, depending on how large it is. The machine is kept at a temperature of 5 degrees celsius, which causes the crabs to go into hibernation. It guarantees live crabs: get a dead one, they'll give you three for free.

Japanese Ramen (ラーメン): Worth A Two Hour Wait

Would you wait in a two hour line for this?

Media_httpimg218image_dcepb

Probably not. For most of Western society, the word "ramen" usually conjures up images of instant noodles packages eaten in school dormatories. However, real Japanese ramen (ラーメン), a noodle dish that originated in China, is nothing like instant ramen. It's something so unique and delicious, people will wait the equivalent length of a Jackie Chan movie just to slurp it down.

In this video, The New York Times indulges our tastebuds with an inside look at ramen eating in Japan.
