EF Retweet: Osunlade
If you like jazzy, organic, latin, soulful, deep house sounds, you'll enjoy this new mix named 12 from Osunlade, an American-born musician and producer.
After composing music for Sesame Street in the late 1980s and 1990s, Osunlade began working with artists such as Patti LaBelle, Eric Benet and Freddie Jackson. In 1999, he started his own label, Yoruba Records. His beliefs in the Yoruba religion Ifá are reflected in his productions, mixes, album covers, and also the titles of some of the tracks he has remixed.

EF Fast Facts:
- Osunlade was one of the writers for the first Interscope album Mo' Ritmo by Gerardo. This included work on the hit single "Rico Suave" which peaked at #7 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart on April 13, 1991, and reached #2 on the Hot Rap Singles chart a week earlier. And so started one of the most popular novelty catch phrases to date. The name "Rico Suave" has been used by a Hannah Montana character, a Puerto Rican pro wrestler and even a thief who was a hit at the Oscars in 2010, to name a few.
- Osunlade's remix of Aldeia De Ogum by Brazilian artist Joyce, and Cantos A Ochun Et Oya, are a few of our favorites from his discography.
- In addition to the aforementioned artists, Osunlade has worked on productions for DJ Jazzy Jeff, Nadirah Shakoor, Vivian Green, and Erro.
- The Session Transcript of a very informative interview with Osunlade at the Red Bull Academy in São Paulo, Brazil in 2002 can be found here.
- Pryography (2011) (Defected) is his self-proclaimed "last house album".
